SPORTS DEPARTMENT :
Activities :
Mainly all the sports activities are organised at the "Nehru Stadium" which is situated at a distance of about 1.5 km from Bus
stand in Civil Line area. Sports and Youth Welfare department started its schemes under Deputy Director of Hockey, District Sports and Youth Welfare
Officer and 23 coaches who are efficiently implementing the plans.
Following activities/plans are being undertaken :-
1. Old Age Pension Plans :
Under this plan people above the age of 60 years and receive 28,000/-
rupees annual pay national and International veteran players receive pension
from Rs. 300/- to Rs.700/- depending upon their sports achievement and living in
Haryana state they might lead a good life.
2. Sports Hostel Plan :
Players from the beginning for the training have been settled in the
hostel with 16 rooms the four games are Hockey, Athletics, gymnastic and Volley
ball from which the selected 64 players have been registered here. They pay Rs.
50/- per day which includes their food and living facilities. A proctor is
appointed for this plan, Rs.13 lakh has been allotted out of which 50 percent is
used for food.
3. Sports Wing :
To raise the standard of studies, rural educational institution, 3
sport wings in year 2000-2001 have been established. The briefing are

Sports wing give Rs. 15/- to each player to fully training these
players in modern techniques. Coaches have been appointed. However Rs. 58 to 90,
are given to coaches for expenditure ( in financial year 2000-2001).

This department started a very important plan in the year 2000-2001

Here together with the training, the players are being given Rs. 50/-
for food, free education sports equipment and Rs. 100/- per month as pocket
money. Age of admitted Players should be 10-14 Years.
5. Yoga Centre Plan :
A medication treats, many sicknesses and is very useful for the
players.

6. Wrestling centre :
In Haryana wrestling makes mans muscles and heat strong. It is very
famous in Haryana. To raise the standard of wrestling in Gurgaon 2 wrestling
coaches have been appointed.

7. Infrastructure plan:
In Haryana stadiums indoor Halls sports complex, Gymnasium swimming pools constructions have been encouraged- Keeping this aim in
mind in District Gurgaon in sector 38 & 41 has been chosen to build a modern
sports complex in which facilities will be provided for the Game hockey, table
tennis, swimming volley ball, foot ball, cricket. HUDA is completing this
construction.
In Nehru Stadium, Gurgaon with the help of Indian
Government Astroturf has been laid down in the grounds amounting to Rs. 2.37
crore approx. After being completed it would be the Ist Astroturf ground in
Haryana.
To encourage sports in rural areas sports grounds and stadiums
are being planned to be constructed by the Indian Government. Panchayats have
given 4-5 acres plots and related Zila sports parishad have given approx.50
percent of its share. The Indian Govt granted 1.5 lakh rupees and an amount of
75,000/- by Haryana Govt.

8. Nehru Youth Centre and enlightment association.
In India especially in rural area people from 15 year to 35 years need guidance since the people of neighboring states are unkown
to civilization. They are not fully awakened to the rule of leadership. To fulfill this aim Nehru Youth Centre and Enlightenment association started a plan
in which the State Level Sahsic Camp Organised various cultural items for 4 days on which women were taught the means which was useful to approximately 100
women.
9. Sports Scholarship :
This is started at college level and achievers are given Rs. 900/- and at the school level Rs, 700/- are given this year 150
players were given the scholarships.
10. Cash Prize:
Under this scheme Rs. 3000/- to Rs. one lakh cash prizes are given according to their accomplishment achievements. This year 26
players were awarded Rs.1 lakh and Miss Navita Kataria was given Rs. 8000/- and also given Bhim Award.
Coaches, empires and referees of National International levels, are given Rs. 600/- Rs. 1500/-
During the year 2000-2001, Mr. H.J.G,Bannerjee was given Rs. 1000/- for archery Mr. Kulvinder Singh Rs. 1000/- for
gymnastic Mr. Mahender Singh Rs. 1000/- for judo
Hona'ble CM (Haryana) have given concession to players upto 75% in bus fare and posting in police department
also.
