Gurgaon - a township inception transcends centuries and goes back to the time of Mahabharata when Guru Dronacharya trained the Pandavas and the Kauravas.

During last one decade, Gurgaon has gone through major changes and has now developed into a modern township.

The Town and its People:

Way back in 1971, its population was mere 57,085. It then grew to approximately 2,57,000. Due to its rapid commercialization and urbanization the population in the 20 years is supposed to expand by 36.2%.

Despite being a commercial township, it has not forgotten the importance of nature. Accordingly, several provisions have been made to develop parks, open spaces and green belts. A park has already been developed in Sector 29 which is fully decorated with water body, fountain and rose garden.

HUDA realises the importance of water in all aspects of life. Consequently, a 70 km. Water channel from Sonepat to Gurgaon has been constructed which is designed to supply 100 MGD treated water capable of serving upto 16 lacs of people.

Sewerage-the hygienic of life :

HUDA has also designed a 4 zone sewerage system to ensure hygiene. The waste is carried through proper channels and disposed in an appropriate manner. It also provides an efficient drainage system to stop the rain water from collecting in the town.

Road-Heading towards success :

Just a stone's throw away from New Delhi, Gurgaon falls under the National Capital Region. It is connected to the Delhi - Jaipur - Ahmedabad board gauge rail link and also to the National Highway. No. 8 along with the IGI Airport. HUDA aims at making the township of Gurgaon more easily accessible by providing long and wide road which are well lit. The light posts have been fixed at regular intervals. Consideration of a circular road is also under consideration.

Foundation for Social Commercial and Industrial Success :

HUDA has realised that the success of a town lies in the satisfaction of its people and believe in bringing them together. Keeping this in mind HUDA has developed Creche building, Schools, Colleges, Dispensary, Hospital, Community Building, Police Station Fire Station, Milk Booth Bus Queue Shelter Telephone Exchange, Stadium, Club, Old Age Home etc.

HUDA has also been conceptualised as a catalyst for promoting the pace of industrialisation in Gurgaon. Promotion of large and medium sector projects has been among one of its prime objectives.

Keeping in pace with time, it undertook considerable developmental work to ensure that the industries coming up in Gurgaon have a smooth sailing run.
